“Our greatest memory of KIVC”
Dear Shanti,
David and I still reminisce of our first time at KIVC, Puerto Vallarta because it was that trip that solidified our decision to return year after year. My husband, David, is an amazingly generous man and Christmas of 2002 he panicked because he had forgotten to purchase me a gift. So, he visited with our travel agent four days before Christmas. The agent showed him several packages in P.V. and David really felt a pull to KIVC over 5 others. So, he booked a week stay at KIVC to leave the day after Christmas. I need to mention a very important detail; he planned to purchase my engagement ring in P.V.
We had arrived at the KIVC check-in desk and I was going to take a picture of the breathtaking lobby display of poinsettias, when I realized I had left our camera on the plane. So, David and I left our baggage with the concierge and headed back to the airport. We really feared that the camera would not be turned in and much to our surprise the flight attendant spotted us in the airport entrance carrying our camera. She had remembered us on the flight and looked up our names. She was in the process of calling KIVC to have us notified. We were so grateful to her.
We took the bus back to KIVC and David turned to me asking if I had the satchel that held our monies and passports. I slugged him on the arm and told him to not kid with me. However, he was not kidding! So, we got off the bus immediately and waved down a taxi driver. We told him our predicament and he asked us if we could recall any thing that stood out about our taxi driver or cab. David remembered that the taxi had a red-cross sticker in the windshield. Now Shanti, you know how many taxicabs are in P.V. and you know that finding a red-cross amongst them is like looking for a needle in a haystack, right?!
As we headed down the street David spotted an oncoming taxi with a red-cross. Both vehicles stopped in the middle of the street and David and the taxi driver carrying our bag met in the middle of the street. He explained to David that he was heading back to the airport to drop our bag off at the lost and found. He even told David to look inside and count all the money. David trusted his word and gave both drivers a well deserved tip.
When we arrived back at the Krystal both the concierge and Hotel manager greeted us with drinks and a free dinner to Bogart’s that evening. We were at fault for the above actions and yet, KIVC treated us as if they were the responsible ones. How gallant is that!!!
Three days into our trip David had purchased my ring from Pacific Jewelry. KIVC staff had heard of our engagement so they sent champagne, fruit, and cheeses to our Palapas that afternoon. Thank you KIVC! It is because of your generous hospitality and continued friendship that we return year after year to our home away from home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
